EDIE Kellar MAHANEY
Classically trained in the abstract expressionist school, Edie Kellar Mahaney is devoted to her art. Her sophisticated, gestural technique coupled with her intuitive approach results in work that is truly exuberant and joyful.
An award-winning artist, Edie has spent a lifetime nurturing and refining her artistic style. She received a BFA from Wittenberg University and a MFA in Studio Painting from Ohio State University.
She has also had an impressive career in museum work and cultivation of the arts. She founded the Munce Art Center in 1981 and was the director of Sullivan Munce Cultural Center for over twenty years.
Edie has received many accolades including being named a Distinguished Hoosier by the Indiana Governor in 1998 and one of 50 Over 50 Awe-Inspiring Women by Kappa Delta Sorority (National Chapter) in 2007.
With resounding support and enthusiasm from her husband and children, she happily returned to painting professionally full-time in 2001. Edie passed in November 2017 of Lewy Body Dementia but her catalog of paintings and images is still available to be discovered and enjoyed.
